Crazy Fun!!

Does it seem like every year there are more Halloween parties that come up?? I think we got in our costumes like four different times. I am however glad we get good use of our costumes.

No pictures of Joshua, he refused to get in costume, let alone get his face painted...so much for the work I spent making his costume...maybe next year.

This is me and two of our primary presidency...our president is from Korea and had some authentic Korean dresses and I got a wig and Voila!



Isaiah was Captain Jack Sparrow without the wig, so really just a pirate. This is at his school costume parade. The only picture I took of him in costume.


Halloween this year was really memorable. We had some of my adorable neices and nephews here and we had all kinds of crazy fun. After trick or treating they came back for a sleepover and Mike had a brilliant idea. Get out my old make up case and let them have a ball...and they did. So they grabbed my wig and that was the beginning...Their whole family dressed as all the character from Napoleon Dynamite...so they labeled him La Fonda.



This picture of my nephew shows how much fun they had! It was hysterical to watch! Mike played the part entirely...the kids were cracking up!

Kolob Ride

Anyone who knows me well knows that there are two things that make me who I am. Violin being one passion, the other the majestic horse. I've been riding a lot lately with a friend and have felt my life be more fulfilling because of it. Horses help complete who I am. When we go we always forget the camera but not this time...and what better place to go with a big group than to Kolob Mountain in the fall when all the leaves are changing. It was truly a dreamy site. The weather was perfect, the horses got worked REALLY hard, and all of our rears are severely sore. It was truly a great day!


















Amazing eh? I feel like I'm living my childhood dreams. So lucky!

Child of the Corn

Corn was ready to be picked...YUM!! Joshua loved running up and down the rows of corn. He even picked every ear himself. ++important note++ Homegrown corn usually always has a worm in each ear. DO NOT leave out on the counter over night. It will result in creepy crawly catapillers making their way around your house and on your rugs...they blend in and may be stepped on. Yuck!!

Happy 100th

Just noticed it was my 100th post! Although the content of this post isn't really so happy...it is filled with blood and tears...just in time for bloody, gorey halloween. WARNING: not for a weak stomache. No pictures though, If only I knew it was going to happen...dang.

At our neighbors for a girls night when the guys were at priesthood session and the kids are playing outside and I hear a totally girly scream and I assume it's one of the other kids because I've never heard that kind of cry. I peek out the window to see Isaiah with blood gushing from his head and down his face and he's running to me yelling "I'm gonna die" (a little dramatic...) How the heck did you..."She hit me with an ax" he says. I'm thinking an AX? So after he was getting taken care of in the house I go find the weapon...it was a small hand held garden hoe. Sharp, for sure, and totally an accident. The older daughter was taking it away from the 3 year old and he got in the way...ouch! Head wounds bleed much more than other parts of the body so I wasn't freaking out too bad. But most of his head was drenched in blood so I couldn't even tell where it was at. Finally the bleeding stopped and we got it cleaned up and called a doctor in our ward to look at it. She said it would do great with surgical glue to pull it together. Other than a headache he's doing fine now.

Our neighbors visited the next day to check up on Isaiah and brought him popsicles and cookies and a bag of candy from Audrey. She also wrote him this adorable letter.


If you can't read it this is what it says " Isaiah, I'm sorry I cut your head open. Nobody thinks I did it on accident. I'm writing this letter to say sorry. I love you." everyone sigh. Ohhhh.


So today we're at the store and Joshua decides to play with the ab roller that is out. The kind that both hands roll on the ground. You know what I mean? Anyway ab roller went one way and Joshua's face the other. His entire face plowed into the concrete floor. Luckily I was with my sister who was prepared with kleenex to catch all the blood pouring from his nose and both lips. His lips are HUGE and his nose is swollen and I'm sure he's got a headache. Another bloody shirt to wash. Seriously!! in three days time! Accident prone? Hope not. I hope it's not true that things happen in three's because I don't need any more blood around here.

For those who have been waiting for these...they turned out so well. I almost didn't know which ones to do. These are only some of my favorites.




















This last one was by requested by Isaiah...he loves getting his pictures taken and then he wanted one with me...I love by boy. As you can tell, we were in no way ready for a picture but he insisted...wearing his cousins boots as a last resort of no other choices...they're sweet huh?





Elsie...once again you have out done yourself.

Melting pot party

I threw Mike a (in my opinion) totally sweet surprise dinner party for his 30th. I sent him out with some of his friends for the day to go 4 wheeling (which didn't work out in the end dang it), shooting, fishing, and remote control truck racing. While he was out I was home with another of our friends who is a chef and beyond. One of his favorite restaurants is the Melting Pot so he and I prepared fondue for over three hours. He cooks all fancy. Brought over more alcohol than I've ever seen...luckily he had it so I wouldn't have to go buy it...who knows who I'd have seen there. Maybe my brother. Anyway. Everything we made was KILLER!! Killer on the budget and killer on the waistline...but totally worth it! Seriously never had anything like it before. My dining room table isn't big enough for our group so I had to improvise and we set up in my family room.



We started off with Cheese fondue which ended up being my total favorite.


Then we had steak/chicken and mushrooms, zuccini, potatoes etc. Done in a oil/broth fondue.


The final was of course the chocolate fountain which everyone saved room for and ended up with no room for but ate it anyway. YUM!!




Every had Banana Flambe?? Funny thing...Dan prepared it and dumped a little too much rum into it. Okay probably way too much. We all had some and maybe THAT'S why the night was so fun...really we didn't have much and put it up. So later my mom comes by to drop off the kids and we were all eating chocolate and then we hear her squeal and her face was totally puckered. She decided she'd try some Flambe...it was pretty hysterical. We all totally joked that something like that would happen with her and we were exactally right.



After all was said and done we let the kids come back over and enjoy a little themselves...they were totally stoked as they watched us get ready for the chocolate fountain and then almost crying when we told them they had a babysitter.





Anyone who needs an awesome party idea, this was totally a hit!!

His actual birthday was on Tuesday and he was working in Vegas and so I took the shuttle down and surprised him for dinner and we had a crazy fun time in Vegas. We even scored some extra cash. Saaaweeeeet!!! Fun birthday for sure.
