Pickin' & Playin'

This morning we got to go my friends parents' home and help pick veggies from their amazing garden. Wow, if things grew this well in St. George, I'd need to get some tips from these guys because they know how to do it...three green houses, fruit trees and after my own heart even a raspberry patch.

They were doing more eating than picking but at least they got to enjoy the fruits of their labors.


Oliver enjoyed the shade of the squash plant most.

Colorado is nothing compared to St. George's heat but it was a whoppin 94 degrees today and much more humid that the desert so we were missing the pool today but the boys made do I guess you could say.

It started as washing hands and turned into washing Joshua...


Then the tables turned...

By the end we were all soaked and laughing hysterically...what a fun morning.

5 weeks on the count down...

Only 5 weeks and I'll have my yard back. The boys need it so desperately. The last couple of days I have exhausted myself over things to keep the boys busy and there was a breaking point coming my way very soon. You may have noticed the new links on the right...many of which are kids crafts(cute ones at that) that I can even feel a little creative myself. So if you are anything like me desperately trying to keep the kids busy (besides TV or computer) you might find them just as refreshing as I did. Here's our first craft Isaiah loved...(these are actual pictures from the website) ours turned out just as cute I just forgot to take pictures.




Who doesn't like to get messy with glue? He loved this part.

After it was done he used the left over supplies to make a rocket? at least that what HE says it was. What mom doesn't feel a little bit proud when they see their child engaged in creativity?? Such a better feeling than yesterday.

Fresh produce

When my mom was here a couple weeks ago we mistakingly came across a farmers market and got there just before they were done for the day. They began pretty much giving fantastic produce away and we scored big time. One huge Box chuck full of anything we could fit in it for $15 bucks. Are you serious??? So we began. Cabbage, Watermelon, cantalope, peas, potatoes, carrots, cucumbers, broccoli, grapes...It was so oddly exhilarating being able to pick my own produce not having to way each bag and calculate the outrageous price in my head. This is some of our treasures.
Good things happen when you try new things...now I love love love these...

Needless to say we were eating pretty dang good for the next week...I even still have some left in my fridge that we are still enjoying but I think it's about time to go again and it's saturday and they'll be there til 1pm so off I go....bless those farmers.

I have to say...

Despite my efforts to withstand the peer pressure of reading the much talked about book Twilight...I gave in. I wouldn't call myself a book enthusiast in the least. I am the self help, how to book kind of girl...at least I thought. My mind has suddenly been changed. Just like everyone else I, too couldn't put it down and was up until 3:30 this morning until I finally finished. Something tells me I am not the only one who has done that! So thanks to my friend Katie who bought it and lent it to me while she finished her current read...I now have to go buy the next one today to see the love saga continue. Bravo Stephanie, Bravo.

Just an innocent by-stander

So the guys got to go play dodgeball together for yet another fun activity. Me, being the supportive wife that I am ;), decided to go watch. well we hadn't been there but 15 minutes when I got out my camera to document the event. I was just ready to take a picture of him in action when through the lense I see this ball coming straight for me. Well this is the shot I got previous to the brutality of the ball to my face. (technically it was the ball to the camera to my face)

After we claned up the bloody mess this is me a few minutes after....

and a couple of hours later....


and the next morning...yes it does hurt just as bad as it looks.....forgive my self-photography skills.

...and yes he felt horrible and even brought me a baskin robins sundae when he got home.

Diving for Dollars

Mike says this is one of the coolest things he has ever done...Their Regional Manager was in town yesterday and after work they were told to meet at the pool. Their managers had gone and gotten $1,000 in gold dollars and some quarters and thrown them into the pool and let each sales rep dive for dollars. It was really fun to watch.
The pool looked so neat at night.

Mike said it looked so shimmery under the water it really was like a treasure hunt.

The second he walked through the door he poured all of his coins out on his towell and had to count it. The quarters are stacked in fours and the dollar coins were stacked in 5's so it ended up being more than it looks. Over all we scored $133 bucks from it...not too shabby. Good job Mike for scoring some cash.

Royal Gorge Bridge/Buckskin Joes

Another day off so we hit the sites!! Buckskin Joes is a frontier town with live gun shows, majic shows, old time photography, carriage rides and lots more...even old fashioned ice cream and candy shop...yum. I wish I would have thought to get a picture of the watermelon seed spitting contest. Isaiah won first place and got a free t-shirt.


This donkey is over 20 years old and she just roams around the town.

This is the craziest room...you walk in a house and it is completely normal but as you start walking down the hall the foundation angles start to change and then you go in this room and the floor is tilted on an angle. You can NOT walk across the room in a straight line to save your life...it forces you to the bottom. It is the wierdest feeling...this picture is taken from the straight foundation in the doorway.

Then it was off to the view the Royal Gorge Bridge by train. Check out these views it was such a pretty ride.



5 minutes in to the ride Joshua was tuckered out!! What a day.

America the Beautiful

This is America the Beautiful Park...you might not be able to tell from this picture but this sculpture is a waterfall and all around where the water recycles they let you come and cool off in the water...lifeguard and all. I wish we could have our splash pad day here girls!!


When we heard about the park they failed to mention the part about there being water to play in so the boys were sporting some soggy shorts....next time I'll be prepared.

Grandmas Here!!

My mom, sister and her daughters came to visit...and ends up they get to stay another week. We are having so much fun with company. They are getting to see so much and we hope we can fit everything in while they are here.

Childrens Museum

Over the weekend we took the boys to the childrens museum in Denver. This is imaination land for children with any interest.


They got to dress up like fireman and drive the firetruck and beep the horn and turn on the siren. Also in that exhibit was a pretend pay phone where you teach your children how and when to dial 911 and they get to talk to someone as if it is a real emergency. Glad to know Isaiah knows our address but I guess I need to work on the phone number.


This was really fun for the hands on child. They have all sorts of picture ideas of things to build and bins and bins of cartons, milk jugs and lids, paper towell rolls that you can use saws and screwdrivers to build things....loved this picture.


Messy and not for a clean-freak mother....luckily the paint washes VERY easily. Theres nothing like getting your hands in on the action and doing a little finger painting.

Joshua is starting to love choo choos and this was his favorite...all aboard.

He loved this kid sized basketball court.

Besides these things we also visited the vets office where they could dress up in doctors coats, stethescope and all and pick a stuffed animal to be your patient...check blood pressure, give shots or x-rays and then put them back in their cage...
Didn't get a picture of this but they loved this...it was a jungle with caves and tunnels to crawl through and there were costumes of rabbits, worms and skunks to dress up in.
Things the boys didn't love but I thought were neat....shopping center, dance studio, magnetic wall with letters, numbers and shapes. You could be there for hours...
